Response to Maura

To be honest, I'm pretty jealous of the commencement speakers some of these schools get. I've only been to one Clemson graduation (my sister's) and not only was there not an interesting speaker but, in fact, there was NO speaker.

Anywho, my response is to Maura's response to Bono's speech at U. Penn. Frankly, I chose it because I love Bono (I actually saw U2 in Clemson on the very tour he references in the speech, come to think of it, when I was in eigth grade), and I think he's the only person in the world that can be on an iPod commercial and still be cool.

The work that Bono has done in Africa is incredible and, in relation to the lack of response he often seems to have gotten, resolute. He doesn't give up, even if the fight is all up-hill

I agree with everything Maura said about pathos. The other two, ethos and logos, I would differ on a little. I believe his ethos is he and his past with DATA. I believe his logos is more than just the examples he uses of the Marshall Plan, etc. I think it also applies to all his "it's a fact" remarks and his answer to "-isms."

That's my stuff.....

One thing that I think is very important in the speech that Maura didn't mention
