Diets and Hicks
well, it's funny how those words look together in the title page...
weight management has been something that I have struggled with my entire life. I was never really the super skinny girl or anything like that, but for the most part, I was unhappy with my body. However, I was really just listening to the people that were unhappy with it because I thought that they mattered. Boy, I'm glad I got smarter as I got older.
I will agree that diet ads and exercise infomericals are very misleading. People believe that they are creditable through their ethos, but they aren't really. As we touched on in class and in other blogs, the only way to loose weight is to exercise more, limit calorie intake, and get a good night's rest. I am still working on this everyday.
Bill Hicks... wow. I had never heard of him before, but please don't take that as anything important because I had a very sheltered life as a child. I never saw MTV until I came to college, and more stuff like that. I thought he was incredibily funny with an underlying tone that really uncovered some important issues. Hicks is a rhetoritican of his time. Too bad he had to die so soon... Thanks to Jillian for burning the CD for everyone... I currently have it in my car!
