Response to 4-5-05's presentations

Okay, so I am trying to stay on top of this blog thing... it is all too easy to let them slip up on you and you are in the hole for weeks. So, it's Tuesday night and thought I would share some thoughts with you about Dana's presentation about sexuality and the media and a few comments about my own presentation that I made.

On Dana: You are a tough act to follow, but I am glad you went first because you laid the perfect foundation for me to present my part about the rhetoric of alcohol advertisements. My roommates are totally addicted to TBS because they show the syndicates of all the shows we love: Friends, Raymond, and the one and only Sex and the City. From what I hear, the SATC is a very edited form on TBS compared to the orginals that aired on HBO. I think that you made some interesting connections in your presentation. I am sorry that some of your links didn't work- I had some problems with mine and had to "rig" it. As a whole, I really enjoyed your presentation because it had some relevant examples of multimedia in a culture that is overly obsessed with sexuality.

On my presentation: I tried to think about a topic that was interesting and would encourage the class to get involved. So many times I have given a presentation and I felt like my audience was about to die on me. I hope that none of you had that experience. In terms of multimedia, I wanted to use some pictures of ads, the collage of ads, radio clips, and games to inform you on a serious issue that our society faces. I really enjoyed making and working on this assignment and I hoped it showed. I also hope that you had as much fun, or at least as much as an interest, as I did making it! Thanks :)
