Ambassador Young
I enjoyed the ceremony. The choir, and the student's speech was nice touch. However, I think that Ambassador Young missed the mark on the reason he was there. The man is no very distinguished and has a long list of accolades, so what I am about to say should be taken with a gain of salt. I thought the speech was to be about MLK in some way or another. Instead it sounded like unrehearsed ramblings on many topics. Non-violent protest was one of the topics but it was mentioned in a way as to almost impugn President Bush. As were the remarks concerning the Carter Administration and the war over Oil. Irregardless of oil, there were multiple planes that crashed and killed many people, as long as Ambassador Young was rambling...he could have mentioned that. I learned little about MLK while at the speech, yet I hoped that as one of his close advisors, Young would have some insights to share with us. All I got out of the evening is that non-violent protest is good - and I could not agree more.
