Response to Christy

In response to Christy's discussion of Ambassador Young's speech, I have to agree with her in her assertion that the Oratorical Contest Winner spoke very well and more concise than Ambassador Young. While I enjoyed Ambassador Young's speech very well, I agree with Christy in that the young man who spoke before delivered amazing points concerning equality, drawing many great illustrations. In Christy's response, she makes several points concerning logos, pathos, and ethos in Ambassador Young's speech. In agreement, Ambassador Young used a lot of ethos to validate his authority as a speaker, discussing his various trips around the world, his post at the UN, his connection with Jimmy Carter, and his position as mayor of Atlanta. In addition, he used logos in his discussion of present facts in todays world: the situation in Rowanda, the voting situation in Africa, the situation in Iraq, and a multitude of other facts. I agree with Christy that he used pathos in his discussion of the children of Latin America, a point I commented on in my response because it was emotional and the image is something that stays with you. So again, I agree with Christy's response and I felt she really engaged with Ambassador Young, although she did indeed feel that the Oratorical Contest Winner delivered a compelling and more concise speech as well.
