Response to Kevin Jennings "Andrew Young speech response"
In Kevin's response to Andrew Young's speech, he noted that he was especially moved by the scene of the children in South American who were begging for scraps from the people eating nearby. I was also especially moved by this part of Young's speech. Young had a way of painting very vivid mental images for his audience as well as an amazing uses of pathos in his speech. Examples of the imagery he used were also exemplified when he explained that a friend stated that African Americans had not come very far since the fifties, and in response he described his friends occupation as a neurosurgeon, large house on the water, with a porsch in the driveway and a yacht in the back. As for his use of pathos, other than the children in South America, he also described the travesty if Rwanda and described the situation the people were in along with commenting on the millions who lost their lives. Although his use of the other elements of a speech were amazing as well, I was most touched by his uses of pathos.
