Mobile Home Presentation

I never thought of the mobile home as such a controversial subject, but after this presentation I realized that many people really do hold stereotypes of people who reside in them. I never noticed that South Carolina has so many—I guess many are intentionally located in secluded areas so as not to draw too much attention to them (as Rebecca pointed out the “hidden” trailer parks in Clemson). It still surprises me that SC has the most mobile homes per capita—that was definitely an effective use of logos in the presentation. She also used logos by showing “Dr. Bukks’” web postings. It proved that there are many people out there who have strong opinions about mobile homes. She made a good point when she said that American culture created the mobile home for efficiency and non-community purposes, and that there is no reason for blocking an innovative move in housing merely because many people hold an unreasonably negative view of these homes. She established her ethos by using quotes from Michael Berk, a professor at Missouri State University, who agrees with her opinion on the homes. She furthered her ethos by showing a model that she made herself. This showed her experience in architecture, and her ability to create a design for an innovative type of mobile home that would work well with such an increasingly mobile society. Nice presentation!
