Alden TITLE IX & Annie and Diets

Hey, I'm commenting on Alden and Annie's presentations for this week. First of all, I must say, outstanding presentations so far by all. I am extremely impressed at the diverse topics. Ok, the presentations.

Alden, your presentation was very thoroughly done, possibly because you're an amazing thinker and I feel like such a weak student in your presence, or maybe its just because we share a special downtown bond. Regardless, its very interesting how different the lockers rooms of different sports are. Its obvious that football is the king of everything at Clemson, often times, including reigning over academia.

However, your comments about TITLE IX and the loopholes that Clemson takes to go around such compliancy were very informative. As with every rule, someone is going to try to go around it to benefit themselves. Like Clemson, they should want equality among sports as opposed to what-rule-we're-following. Specifically, the videos you presented engaged us visually and showed the obvious difference between the TVs and XBox-es in the football locker room and the boat house for the Crew team. Your ethos as an athlete here gave your presentation much more credibility than if I had been doing the presentation, and your ethos was evident throughout.

In segue, Annie also possessed credible ethos because she had tried many of the fad diets of which she had done. Specifically, she owned the Carmen Electra videos. Honestly, I am constantly complaining about the roll of fat at my waistline, but not enough to diet. I've been on a slow weight gain since last semester and I have no idea when I'll stop if I don't do some form of exercise. But I am not a dieter, simply because, a DIET is what you eat on a daily basis. You already have a diet, so don't go on one, just modify the one you already have. I don't want to modify mine, so my only hope is exercise.

Are you going to do erotic dances every day for the rest of your life like Carmen Electra? No. If you have success on a particular diet, are you gonna leave carbs out forever? No. And when you start eating bread again, then you'll gain it right back. So I agree Annie, and I agree that often times they promise results that cannot be achieved.

But why? Why is America all about the fad diets? Because America is a quick culture. Our cars go faster, our meals are cooked in microwaves in 60 seconds as opposed to catching a fish, buidling a fire, and slow-roasting that thing, and if thats not enough, we'll get it in a drive through or a To-Go space at Outback or Chilis. And when it comes to losing weight, we don't want a long term diet change. We want our weight to change to look like the ad in less than a month, and thats what Cortislim and Trim Spa say...see change in less than 6 weeks or your money back! Yay! Lets get it! No.

So Alden, keep working on the changes in the athletic department, Annie, get off the diets and tell others to do the same.

Peace and love
Kevin
