Bill Shakespeare
Kevin’s presentation today on the rhetoric of Shakespeare was very well done. He covered the rhetoric terms we have been discussing all semester and applied them to works that have been around for hundreds of years. Kevin did a good job of going through a couple of Shakespeare’s plays and pointing out the logos, pathos, and ethos that Shakespeare used. Since I am just reading Hamlet this semester for the first time, I am glad that he included that play in his presentation. The character of Hamlet succeeds in doing what all rhetoric aims for. He convinces his mother to see the situation his way. I liked the clip from Much Ado About Nothing that Kevin chose to show to the class. I have never liked reading Shakespeare plays, but I tend to like them once I see them actually performed, whether it is in a movie or on stage. Once I see the play acted out, I understand so much more of the play than I ever did by reading it to myself.
