Jaquinna’s presentation brought up an issue that I didn’t even know existed in South Carolina. By mentioning the statistics behind the issue, she proved how big a difference there is between the number of black judges and white judges. The clip Jaquinna showed during her presentation was very appropriate. The clip included an interview with a white judge whose votes had not been for any of the black candidates. He gave the other side of the argument and defended his reasons for whom he voted for, who were the most qualified for the job. I like the way Jaquinna tied her presentation into her own life. What is happening now in South Carolina will greatly affect her if she goes on to become a lawyer. As a side note…I think colleges, workplaces, and other areas that are required to fill a quota is a bunch of bullshit. I think all applications (job, college, etc.) should remove the sections where a person has to fill out their race. That way the person accepted will really be the most qualified. If it wasn’t for the name giving it away, I would also say remove the gender section.
