Thur...Emily
Harry Potter and other banned/tried to ban books!
Great topic for an English class!
The list you handed out to begin with was great. It got everyone thinking about your topic. I have read 6 of the top 7 books! Not bad for a guy that does not like to read...he he...
I liked and understood your presentation very much. The video helped to let us know were the media is on this issue too. One thing though...the video kinda dragged on...
As a student you had the Ethos to address the subject. Our pathos came from the book list. Logos...there is something to talk about...
Emily, you don't think that banning books is a good thing...and I don't either unless we are talking about school. Censorship is unfortunately a necessary evil. If the government does not sensor anything you get kids looking at porn on the net! The other extreme is that our freedoms are crushed. The gray area is: how can a school advocate a book with racist, sexist or profane comments and then tell students they can't cuss and so forth!
Public schools definitely run aground there. I would have to say that I am for that type of censorship.
