Thurs.
Ok, so of course I presented on Thurs. so I won't speak much on that anyway. However, I was happy with the response and interest of the class in my topic (thanx guys!).......OK, so on the topic of book banning. The hoopla surrounding book banning was a total surprise for me. I had no idea that mass book burning occured and question the intelligence of those who participate, simply because they are still supporting the author when they have to go out and purchase the book. I think that Emily did an excellent job of presenting the topic. She had great ethos with quotations from authors and the book list was also interesting because we recognized many of the books. Her kairos was evident also, considering that many of us are English majors and have faced this issue at some point in our lives. In one of my English classes this semester we discussed "The Clockwork Orange" and how our prof. was scolded for showing it (on a collegiate level might I add) and I immediately reflected on Emily's presentation. My personal opinion is that books shouldn't be banned but students should have the option of reading those that are controversial. This is because I understand that some things may be offensive and no one should be forced to read anything of that matter.
